The OFW Journalism Consortium is a nonprofit coalition of
advocates of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and journalists.
The Consortium disributes a set of news
features on international labor migration.
From a media advocacy project of the Jesuits-led Institute
on Church and Social Issues, the OFW Journalism Consortium
has evolved into a group helping OFWs address policy issues
through the media. It has been financially supported since
2002 by the Netherlands Organization for International Development
Cooperation (NOVIB) and the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung (FES).

projects in developing countries.

Programs and Activities
Newspackets
The newspackets contain articles on migration issues that
the Consortium gives for free to media agencies and other
groups, provided the Consortium is acknowledged as source.
Philippine Migration Journalism: A Practical Handbook
A first of its kind, the Philippine Migration Journalism:
A Practical Handbook is a collection of stories on international
labor migration. It also provides a list of organizations
(government, business, non-government) in the migrant sector,
with
their most recent contact information as well as other relevant
statistics.
News fora
The Consortium asks experts to speak on migration and development
issues through occasional news forum.
Three activities have been held:
1. "A Discussion - Workshop and Exhibit on Migration
Journalism in the Philippines" - 7 December 2002, University
of Santo Tomas
2. "Overseas Filipinos as Part of the National Development
Agenda" - 27 June 2003, Ateneo de Manila University
3. "Overseas Filipinos and the 2004 Elections" -
19 March 2004, Manila Pavilion
Papers produced during these fora were compiled into monographs,
and viewers of the website can download Adobe Acrobat PDF
versions of these monographs.
